Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Driving Tests.

Pat Carey

Ceist:

354 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, in view of the fact that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 overlooked renewing their provisional licence, the person will be allowed to do the test without having to pay the fee again. [10062/02]

The Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1999 to 2001 preclude the testing of a person who does not hold a provisional licence for the category of vehicle concerned. In the letter of appointment for the test all applicants are advised of this requirement and the need to produce a provisional licence when presenting for the test. As this requirement was not met, the person concerned will have to submit a further application and test fee in order to undergo the test.
