Vol. 552 No. 1

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

181 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath has not received their early retirement pension payment and the arrears due; if the amount of pension payments which is due for January, February and March 2002 can be made to this person; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11571/02]

It was necessary to suspend payment of the early retirement pension to the person named from February 2002 because he had failed to give my Department evidence of the outcome of his application for non-contributory old age pension. My Department has now received the information it required, and his pension has been restored. He will be paid at the end of April with full back-payment for February and March – he had already received his January payment before the pension was suspended.

Ceist:

182 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if his Department has received an application from a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath for participation in the scheme of early retirement from farming; if so, when a decision will be furnished thereon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11572/02]

My Department has received an application from the person named and it is currently being examined. The examination is at an advanced stage, and as soon as it is complete she will be notified directly of the outcome.
