Vol. 552 No. 1

Road Traffic (Joyriding) Bill, 2002: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to provide for the offences of supplying or offering to supply a vehicle to an under-age driver and of organising, directing or participation in the unlawful taking of a mechanically propelled vehicle for the purposes of dangerous driving in a public place, for that purpose to extend the Road Traffic Acts, 1961 to 1995, and to provide for related matters.

Given that we have two or three sitting days left, will the Taoiseach provide some Government time to allow us to debate this important matter, either tonight or tomorrow night?

Is the Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since this is a Private Members' Bill, Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken in Private Members' time.

I move: "That the Bill be taken in Private Members' time."

Question put and agreed to.
