254 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Finance if an irrevocable contract in respect of the lease of lands in Kilkenny has been agreed with the land owner for the purpose of providing accommodation at Dublin Road, Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11755/02]
The reception and integration agency of the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform is responsible for the accommodation of asylum seekers. The Commissioners of Public Works acting on behalf of the agency have put a licence in place to carry out works on lands in Kilkenny together with an agreement to grant a lease. There is provision in both the licence and the proposed letting agreement to allow the commissioners terminate same in certain circumstances.
