Ceist:

275 Mr. B. Hayes asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24 has waited for more than two years for a hip replacement operation when this particular procedure can be held in another EU state; if he will consider providing funds in order that this person can travel to another EU state for this procedure; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of hospital services to residents of Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. Therefore, my Department has asked the regional chief executive of the authority to inves tigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
