Ceist:354 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if there are plans to locate a renal dialysis unit in the Midland Health Board area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11555/02]

My Department has approved funding of €485,000 for the commissioning this year of a six-bed renal dialysis unit which will be attached to the Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore. The Midland Health Board is currently making efforts to recruit the necessary staff and the unit is expected to be operational in the Autumn.
