Vol. 552 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

John Perry

Ceist:

364 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children when he will provide funding for a new mortuary service at Sligo General Hospital; when it will be put in place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11678/02]

Responsibility for the provision of hospital services, including mortuary services, at Sligo General Hospital rests with the North-Western Health Board. Therefore, my Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

Question No. 365 answered with Question No. 282.

John Perry

Ceist:

366 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if the recommendations for the future development of immunology services in the North-Western Health Board area will be funded and implemented as a matter of urgency; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11681/02]

John Perry

Ceist:

372 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress which has been made in addressing the recommendations of the 2000 Comhairle na nOspidéal Report on the immunology services; if the funding has been addressed; the plans which have been made for this service to be provided locally in Counties Sligo and Leitrim; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11721/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 366 and 372 together.

The North-Western Health Board is responsible for the development of health services, including acute hospital services in its functional area which includes Counties Sligo and Leitrim.

I am advised that the board is developing its immunology services jointly with the Western Health Board. In this regard approval issued from my Department in November 2001 to the recruitment of a consultant immunologist for this purpose.
