Vol. 552 No. 1

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Pat Carey

Ceist:

379 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Health and Children if the funding difficulties applying to the intellectual disabilities sector have been brought to his attention, and specifically the plight of an organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 7; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11738/02]

I am aware that some organisations providing services to persons with an intellectual disability or autism have indicated to the Eastern Regional Health Authority that there are particular funding issues arising for them. However, responsibility for the provision of funding for those organisations is a matter in the first instance for the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
