431 Ms Clune asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has published the consultants' paper on school bus safety; if he will be introducing regulations to implement recommendations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11115/02]
In line with a commitment in The Road to Safety – the Government Strategy for Road Safety, 1998-2002, I recently published a consultation paper setting out the main options for enhancing school bus safety. On 15 March last notices published in national papers invited submissions from interested persons and groups on the issues covered in the consultation paper. The final date for receipt of submissions is 30 April 2002. I have arranged to have a copy of the consultation paper forwarded to the Deputy.
