Vol. 552 No. 1

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

449 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the assistance given to an institution (details supplied) in County Mayo since its inception; if his Department has an ongoing involvement in the running of the centre; the legal attachment of his Department with the centre; if appointees of his Department serve on a board of directors or other committee with a similar function; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11622/02]

Funding of €1,127,492 under the voluntary housing capital assistance and communal facilities schemes has been paid to this approved body in respect of 33 units of accommodation and associated facilities provided for elderly persons in a number of projects undertaken by them since 1993. Mortgage agreements, which require that the conditions of the scheme continue to be met for a period of 20 years, have been effected between Mayo County Council, which is responsible for administering the scheme in the area, and the voluntary body. An additional €336,480 was recently approved in respect of a further five units of accommodation which they are providing.

My Department has no involvement in the running of the housing project or the voluntary body itself.
