501 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if her attention has been drawn to a film (details supplied); if she will allocate funding for completion of finance to finish the film; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11188/02]
My Department's responsibility in the film industry relates to the granting of certificates under section 481 of the Taxes Consolidation Act, 1997. This tax based incentive scheme is aimed at encouraging private investment in film production in the State. Bord Scannán na hÉireann, an independent statutory agency funded by my Department, supports film projects through the provision of development funding and production finance. Bord Scannán na hÉireann is autonomous in its disbursement of funds.
