518 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if an annual subsidy is being paid to a company (details supplied); the conditions attached to the payment of the subsidy; if these conditions are being honoured; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11795/02]

My Department has a contract with the company referred to by the Deputy to provide a cargo and passenger ferry service between Galway city and the Aran Islands between 1 January 1998 and 31 December 2004 at a cost of €603,125 per annum. A copy of the contract will be forwarded to the Deputy. My Department ensures, in so far as possible, that the terms of the contract are adhered to. All complaints regarding the operation of the service are investigated by my officials and followed up with the company when necessary.
