578 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will instruct that records and statements sought from the Garda Commissioner by a former Garda Sergeant be released to this person under the 30 years rule (details supplied). [11923/02]
The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the direction and control of the force and it is a matter for him to decide what Garda records, if any, should be released. In this instance, I understand that the person in question has been given the opportunity to examine his personnel file. I should add that the Depart ment's file in this matter has been released in full under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.
