Vol. 552 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

757 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason no decision has been taken on the provision of a bus layby and ancillary accommodation facilities at Pullathomas national school, Ballina, County Mayo; if he has examined the inspectors report on this matter; if he will authorise approval for the works involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11612/02]

An application for the provision of a bus layby and ancillary accommodation at Pullathomas national school has been received and is currently under consideration in the planning section of my Department. As part of this consideration process, factors such as demographic trends, housing developments, current and projected enrolments and staffing levels need to be examined in conjunction with an inspector's report in the matter. On completion of this examination, a decision on the school's long-term accommodation requirements will be made and notified to the board of management.
