Vol. 552 No. 1

Written Answers. - Fishing Rights.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

87 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the grants which are available to local fishing clubs to purchase fishing rights; if he will consider an application from Kilkenny Anglers to purchase Lord Ormonde Fisheries; the steps which will be taken to re-stock the River Nore following the completion of the drainage scheme; if funds will be made available through his Department or the Office of Public Works for this purpose; and the steps which will be taken to provide fish cover in the River Nore relating to the drainage project. [11273/02]

The purchase of strategic fisheries is one of the areas eligible for funding under the angling development programme of the national development plan. The day to day administration of the programme is a matter for the Central Fisheries Board. It is open to angling clubs to submit applications for funding under the programme for decision by the relevant project selection committee.

The River Nore is within the fisheries region of the Southern Regional Fisheries Board and the board informs me that it is in contact with the Office of Public Works in relation to the current flood relief works. Accordingly, I am asking the southern board to communicate directly with the Deputy in relation to the information sought which is a day to day matter for the board.

Brendan Kenneally

Ceist:

88 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources when he expects the Central Fisheries Board to communicate with Deputy Brendan Kenneally pursuant to the replies to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 171 and 172 of 20 March 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11418/02]

The Central Fisheries Board informs me that it wrote to the Deputy on 11 April 2002, in relation to the information sought in Questions Nos. 171 and 172 of 20 March 2002.
