121 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of speed ticket fines which were issued in 2001; the number of tickets which were issued on the 30 mph limit, the 40 mph limit and the 60 mph limit; and if he will give a breakdown of the fines that were issued. I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the number of fines-on-the-spot notices issued for excessive speeding in 2001 was 345,652. I have also been informed by the Garda authorities that these statistics are pro visional pending the publication of their annual report for 2001. A breakdown of this figure is not readily available as statistics are not compiled in such a way as to distinguish between detections made in the various speed zones.
