Vol. 552 No. 2

Written Answers. - Citizenship Applications.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

128 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding an application for citizenship or naturalisation by a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12260/02]

I am informed by officials in the citizenship section of my Department that there is no record of an application for citizenship, for naturalisation or otherwise, having being received from the person referred to in the Deputy's question.

However, the individual concerned has made an application for permission to remain in the State on foot of having an Irish born child. I understand that a decision on this application will be made in the very near future, at which stage, I will advise both the applicant and the Deputy of the outcome.
