Vol. 552 No. 3

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Ceist:

137 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department will review the cutbacks forced on an organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 8 due to the fact that pay increases and rising insurance costs were not included in the funding allocated to this organisation. [12564/02]

Responsibility for the provision of funding for organisations providing services to people with an intellectual disability or autism in the eastern region is a matter, in the first instance, for the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to her directly. However, I understand that the authority is in ongoing discussions with the organisation in regard to their 2002 budget.
