Vol. 553 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Ceist:

442 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 142 of 30 January 2002, a person (details supplied) carried out the required drainage on their property; if the necessary approval will be given for this person to receive a forestry plantation grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13798/02]

My Department notified the person in question by letter on 6 June that if specified drainage works were carried out the application would be looked at again. It is not possible to predict the outcome at this stage.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

443 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the reason a second stage maintenance forestry grant payment has not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that no payment of the maintenance grant puts great financial pressure on the applicant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13916/02]

The person in question has been notified by my Department that a recent inspection of the plantation indicated that it was not up to grant standard and required remedial attention. Payment of the maintenance grant can be considered on satisfactory completion of the necessary additional work.
