15 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Defence if he has reviewed the strategy statement for his Department for 2001-04 prepared for the previous Government; and if he proposes to make alterations to it in view of his own personal priorities or the contents of the new programme for Government. The strategy statement is under review in my Department in the light of the new programme for Government.
The Defence commitments in the programme for Government are built on the solid foundations of the White Paper on Defence and the Strategy Statement 2001-2004, and the ongoing implementation of the objectives outlined in both those documents. It is my intention that a new strategy statement will be published by the end of the year in line with the Public Service Management Act, 1997.
