67 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance the percentage growth and the absolute level of the number of public service employees paid for from the Exchequer resources in each of the past four years; and the forecast for 2002. [14098/02]

The level and percentage growth of the number of public service employees paid for from Exchequer resources for the past four years is detailed in the following table. The numbers reflect employee levels at 31 December each year and are whole-time equivalents.
