Bruton asked the Minister for Transport if he has reviewed the strategy statement for his Department for 2001-04 prepared for the previous Government; and if he proposes to make alterations to it in view of his own personal priorities or the contents of the new programme for Government. In accordance with section 4 of the Public Service Management Act, 1997, a new statement of strategy, covering the period 2002 to 2005, is now being prepared. This will be finalised and approved by me within the timeframe provided for in the legislation. It will take into account and reflect the commitments in An Agreed Programme for Government that come within the area of my responsibility as Minister for Transport.
