Vol. 553 No. 7

Written Answers. - Planning Applications.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

274 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the planning charges for lodging a planning application, objecting to a planning application and for appeal by either party to An Bord Pleanála. [15172/02]

Prescribed fees to accompany planning applications are set out in schedule 9 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001. Different fees are prescribed for different classes of development, ranging from €34 for a house extension to a maximum of €38,000 for major industrial-commercial development.

A submission or observation on a planning application must be accompanied by a fee of €20. This is prescribed in schedule 10 of the Planning and Development Regulations, 2001.

Section 144 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 provides that An Bord Pleanála may determine its own fees. Such fees require the approval of the Minister for the Environment and Local Government but no such proposal has been submitted for my approval. Pending the setting of appeal fees under the 2000 Act, the existing fees as set out in the fifth schedule to the above regulations continue to apply. They range from €150 to €380 depending on the class of appeal and €45 for a submission or observation.
