Ceist:277 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his plans to abolish the dual mandate where members of the Oireachtas can seek election to a local authority or the reverse. [15247/02]
Written Answers. - Dual Mandate.
The question of disqualifications from local authority membership was reviewed by the Oireachtas last year and the resulting provisions are set out in section 13 of the Local Government Act, 2001. Any further amendment of these provisions will be a matter for consideration in the context of the Government's legislation programme.
