283 Mr. Morgan asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if his attention has been drawn to the prohibitively high cost of the electrification of isolated farms, including 3-phase electricity supply; if he will provide financial assistance to offset these costs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department does not have a general function in relation to electricity connection charges. The Deputy may wish to know that the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources administer a farm electrification grant scheme. Any queries regarding this scheme should in future be directed to my colleague, the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources. A special scheme has been initiated in CLÁR areas for upgrading for single phase to three phase. I have asked my officials to provide information on CLÁR to you including this programme.
