286 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the steps he has taken to encourage members of staff in his Department to cycle to work; if his Department provides showering facilities; if his Department will supply cycle helmets to ensure safe cycling; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Secure parking is available to staff who cycle to work. Showering facilities are also available. However, the personal safety of staff outside of the work environment, including the use of helmets, is a matter for individual staff members.
