Vol. 553 No. 7

Written Answers. - Strategy Statements.

John Bruton

Ceist:

39 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Taoiseach if he has reviewed the strategy statement for his Department for 2001-2004 prepared for the previous Government; and if he proposes to make alterations to it in view of his own personal priorities and the contents of the new programme for Government. [13678/02]

My Department has published a strategy statement for the period to 31 December 2003 which set out the Department's strategic priorities and high level objectives, how these will be met and how available resources will be used. The Public Service Management Act, 1997 requires that a new strategy statement be prepared within six months of my re-election as Taoiseach. The new strategy statement will take account of the priorities and programme of myself as Taoiseach and of the new Government.
