Ceist:29 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the involvement of his Department and the Government in the recent meeting of the Academy of Excellence in Dublin. [14813/02]

The Academy of Achievement held its third International Achievement Summit in Dublin from 6 to 9 June. Those in attendance included former award winners, members of the Academy and student participants.
My Department provided some logistical assistance to the Academy. In particular, Protocol Officers from my Department met a number of heads of state and former heads of state on arrival, liaised with the Garda Síochana and Aer Rianta and facilitated meetings between the Taoiseach and President Andrés Pastrana of Colombia, Chairman Hamid Karzai of the Interim Administration of Afghanistan, Foreign Minister José Ramos-Horta of East Timor and Mr. Mikhail Gorbachev, former President of the USSR. The Taoiseach attended the academy's gala dinner on 8 June.
