93 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the way in which spending in the first six months of 2002 compares to the budgeted profile for spending for each major programme of his Department's spending; and his forecast for year-end overruns. [15106/02]
The following table shows profile and actual expenditure for the period 1 January to 30 June 2002 for the major estimate headings. Total expenditure in the period was €610.9 million against a profile Estimate of €676.2 million. The fact that many Department schemes are demand driven makes end-year projections difficult at this stage of the year. As can be seen from the following table, there are pressures under the heading of livestock improvement and eradication of disease, but I do not anticipate an overrun on overall gross expenditure for 2002.
