I propose to take Questions Nos. 1481, 1482, 1489, 1500, 1511, 1517, 1523 and 1606 together.

The Government has approved the general scheme of this Bill which is designed to strengthen the enforcement powers of local building control authorities, and to regulate the registration of the titles of "Architect", "Building Surveyor", and "Quantity Surveyor". The Government fully accepts the importance of the proposed Bill. However, its progress naturally has to respect the overall prioritisation established by the Government's legislation programme. This programme at present envisages publication of the Bill in mid-2003.
