189 Mr. McGuinness asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if a work permit in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny will be granted; and if her Department will expedite a response to the submission made by Deputy McGuinness on 30 July 2002. A work permit application on behalf of the person in question was received in my Department. It appears that this person is already working in this country without having a work permit issued on his behalf, contrary to article 4 of the Aliens (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 1999. It would not, therefore, be appropriate to issue a work permit in the circumstances. The company has been informed of the position.
