Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

1539 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide funding to Roscommon County Council to establish group water schemes in communities without any adequate water supply at present; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16643/02]

A block grant allocation of €2.2 million has been made to Roscommon County Council for the current year in respect of the devolved rural water programme. Some €1.5 million from this allocation is in respect of group water schemes expenditure, including the development of new schemes to service areas currently without a piped water supply.

Ceist:

1540 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 468 of 20 March 2002, he will approve funding for the Ballyleague sewerage scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16644/02]

The Roscommon towns and villages sewerage scheme, of which Ballyleague is an element, is included in my Department's water services investment programme 2002-2004 to advance through planning.

The brief submitted by Roscommon County Council for the appointment of a client's representative to prepare a design review report and tender documents for the scheme is under consideration in my Department on foot of additional information received from the council last week.
