1541 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will approve funding for a submission from Roscommon County Council to upgrade a hazardous section of road at Bushfield, County Roscommon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16645/02]
Roscommon County Council recently submitted 11 projects totalling €145,000 for funding under the low cost safety improvement grants scheme in 2003. One of these projects is the L1622 Bushfield.
These projects, together with all applications under this scheme are being considered in my Department having regard to their compliance with the eligibility criteria, the need to prioritise projects, competing demands from other local authorities and the funds available for the low cost safety improvement grants scheme in 2003.
I intend to announce the 2003 non-national road grant allocations, including the low cost safety improvement grant allocations, early in the new year.
