1577 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the steps he proposes to take to deal with the implications of the recent court decision which stated that local authorities are obliged to collect refuse whether or not refuse charges are paid. [16967/02]

My Department is considering the implications of the Supreme Court judgment delivered on 8 November 2001 in the context of preparing the forthcoming Environmental Protection Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2002.
