Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Swimming Pool Projects.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

207 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence the position in regard to the Curragh swimming pool and its availability to the many schools of the area and swimming clubs which used the pool before its refurbishment; the position regarding the families of active or retired Defence Force personnel in the living quarters of the Curragh including Orchard PR and their position in regard to the use of the pool; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15464/02]

Seán Power

Ceist:

210 Mr. S. Power asked the Minister for Defence if the necessary staffing problem at the Curragh swimming pool that will allow local schools and neighbouring communities to avail of the pool has been resolved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15880/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 207 and 210 together.

The military authorities have advised that applications to use the Curragh swimming pool, on behalf of schools that used the old facility, will be favourably considered from a current time. It is intended to further expand the use of the facility to cater for the other groups mentioned as soon as possible.
