The person named applied on 15 animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme on 17 April 2001. Under the terms and conditions of the suckler cow premium scheme, it is necessary to carry out detailed checks regarding the identification and registration of animals to ensure compliance with traceability requirements as provided for under EU regulations.
My Department carried out an inspection of the herd of the person named on 28 September 2001 and it was found that 11 calves did not have cattle identity cards as their births were not registered on the national calf birth registration service database and two animals presented for inspection had no eartags. As the person named had contravened the terms and conditions of the scheme he was advised in writing by the inspecting officer that no grants were due to him under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. My Department wrote to the person named again on 18 February 2002 confirming that no payments were due to him under the scheme. He was given 21 days to appeal this decision. To date, no reply has been received from him.
