Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

349 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal in relation to a suckler cow premium for 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16829/02]

The person named applied on 15 animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme on 17 April 2001. Under the terms and conditions of the suckler cow premium scheme, it is necessary to carry out detailed checks regarding the identification and registration of animals to ensure compliance with traceability requirements as provided for under EU regulations.

My Department carried out an inspection of the herd of the person named on 28 September 2001 and it was found that 11 calves did not have cattle identity cards as their births were not registered on the national calf birth registration service database and two animals presented for inspection had no eartags. As the person named had contravened the terms and conditions of the scheme he was advised in writing by the inspecting officer that no grants were due to him under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. My Department wrote to the person named again on 18 February 2002 confirming that no payments were due to him under the scheme. He was given 21 days to appeal this decision. To date, no reply has been received from him.

The person named was paid his full entitlements under the 2001 special beef premium scheme, 2001 slaughter premium scheme, 2001 extensification premium and 2001 area-based compensatory allowance scheme.

John Perry

Ceist:

350 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department will ensure that the area based compensation payment of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo is immediately processed; if he will ensure that the records are amended to reflect the correct total area of the lands (details supplied); when it will be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16852/02]

The 2002 area aid application of the person named has been fully processed with a forage area determined for payment purposes of 31.40 hectares. The person named will be paid his full entitlement under the 2002 area-based compensatory allowance scheme within the next seven days.

Ceist:

351 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department will ensure that the area based compensation payment of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo is immediately processed; if the necessary records in area aid have been amended to ensure that no future delays will occur; if his Department will provide a copy of the amended records to this person; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16853/02]

The person named submitted an area aid application which included a number of errors. My Department has been in contact with the herdowner with a view to resolving these errors and his 2002 area aid application has now been amended with his agreement. His application has now been fully processed with a forage area determined for payment of 41.76 hectares.

The person named will be paid his full entitlement under the 2002 area-based compensatory allowance scheme within the next seven days.
