Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

382 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will re-examine an application for extensification by a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and if the aerial survey will be examined to ensure that all this person's land has been included. [17439/02]

The person named participated in the 2001 extensification premium opting for the census system. Based on the numbers of bovine animals over the age of six months declared by the herdowner as being present on his holding at each of the five census dates, the stocking density of the holding was 2.0143 livestock unit per hectare. The calculations were based on the full forage area of 48.63 hectares declared by the herdowner on his 2001 area aid application form. Even in a case where a greater area for a holding is established than that declared, EU regulations do not allow the greater area to be accepted for payment purposes.

Under the terms of the relevant EU regulation, extensification premium may only be paid where the stocking density of a holding does not exceed 2.0 livestock units per hectare. The person named has been paid in full in respect of 38 animals applied on under the special beef premium scheme, 2001.

The person named was paid his full entitlement under the 2001 area-based compensatory allowance scheme.
