Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Offices.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

427 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Finance the timescale for the construction of the new Government offices in Roscommon town; the total cost of the project; the square footage of the office space available and the allocation of this to each Department; the traffic management plan proposed for the offices following completion of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16630/02]

The timescale for the construction of the Government offices in Roscommon town is 13 months. The placing of a contract for the construction of these offices depends on the granting of planning permission, which is awaited. It would be inappropriate to reveal the cost of the development until after a contract is placed. The allocation of office space to each Department is as follows:

Dept. of Health and Children

1,501 sq. m.

Dept. of Agriculture and Food

1,441 sq. m.

Dept. of Education and Science

598 sq. m.

Revenue Commissioners

125 sq. m.

Social and Family Affairs

98 sq. m.

This does not include the areas in the building allocated to crèche, storage, meeting rooms, canteen, foyer-atrium etc. Traffic issues arising from the development will be considered in the context of the application for planning permission.
