Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Recreational Facilities Scheme.

Seán Crowe

Ceist:

526 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that although approval has been given to the chief executive officer of County Dublin VEC to arrange with his design team to commence the pre-qualification of suitable contractors for proposed works (details supplied), the question of inviting tenders will then have to be considered and a decision conveyed to the chief executive officer; if he will consider the implications for students of the college who will be studying physical education as a subject for the leaving certificate in the very near future if they do not have a sports hall; the measures he proposes to take to overcome this anomaly; and the future plans for completion of the sports hall. [15605/02]

The pre-qualification of suitable contractors for the works in the school to which the Deputy refers has not yet been finalised. When this process has been completed the question of allowing the works to proceed to the invitation of tenders will be considered further.
