Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Third Level Fees.

Ciarán Cuffe

Ceist:

607 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Education and Science his views on reducing the level of fees payable by non-European students in full-time third level education here, particularly those from developing countries. [16255/02]

Within the university and technological sector the determination of the fees payable by non-EU students is a matter for each institution. However, as the Deputy may be aware, under a fellowship scheme operated by the Department of Foreign Affairs students from developing countries may qualify for support for third level studies in Ireland. The scheme seeks to address capacity deficits in developing countries which hinder the attainment of long-term development goals.
