My Department may offer medical grant-aid to pupils whose condition is sufficient to prevent them from making their own way to a bus pick-up point or school. The aim of the grant scheme is to provide assistance to families towards the cost of private transport arrangements.
Based on a distance of 1.8 miles from the school, the amount of grant-aid sanctioned by my Department in this case is €305.00 per annum. This is the appropriate rate for the mileage involved.
