682 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will allow a person (details supplied) in County Sligo maximum hours for a resource teacher and class assistant in view of their extenuating medical condition; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16850/02]
The child referred to by the Deputy is currently in receipt of resource teacher and special needs assistant support. The principal of the childs school has applied to my Department for additional resource teacher support for the child. The information supplied by the school in support of this application was not sufficient to allow my Department to make a decision on the matter. The school authorities have been requested to provide further information. As soon as this information is received, my Department will be in further contact with the school in relation to the matter.
