Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

802 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources when sufficient funding will be made available to complete project works (details supplied) in County Cork; and if his attention has been drawn to the dangers at the facility in view of the incomplete works. [15667/02]

The pier in question is owned by Cork County Council and responsibility for its repair and maintenance and development rests with the local authority in the first instance. My Department provided funding in 1999 and 2001, totalling €110,910.51, to Cork County Council towards the cost of extending the slipway and improvement works there. In December 2001, Cork County Council confirmed that the works were complete. Any further works required at the slipway are a matter for Cork County Council.
