As the Deputy will be aware, a study was commissioned in March 2002 in relation to the feasibility of a ferry service linking Achill island with the Erris peninsula. Consultants were appointed to undertake the study – Tourism and Transport Consult International – following a public tender competition. The study was completed recently and is at present being assessed by my Department. It is my intention to publish the study shortly and to initiate a public consultative process on its findings.
