Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

820 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if the money allocated to the Robe River catchment management plan of ?130,000 has been withdrawn or reduced; and, if so, the amount in this regard. [16555/02]

I recently received a request for €10,000 from the Western Regional Fisheries Board for works this year on the Robe River catchment management plan, on which I expect to make a decision shortly. The board, together with local stakeholders, will have the opportunity to submit an application for further funding on foot of the forthcoming call for projects under the tourism and recreational angling measure of the Border, midland and western regional operational programme of the National Development Plan 2000-2006. The amount of funding secured will depend on the evaluation and assessment of projects put forward compared to other competing projects and the general availability of resources under the measure for 2003 and subsequent years.

Ceist:

821 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the amount of money that was announced in 2001 for the Corrib development plan; if this funding is being reduced; and if so, the amount in this regard. [16556/02]

The Corrib development programme, which the Western Regional Fisheries Board informs me includes Lough Mask and Lough Carra, has already received funding in excess of €3,118,475 under the now completed 1994-99 tourist angling measure. There was no commitment by the Western Regional Fisheries Board for funding under the Corrib development programme in 2001. The board will have the opportunity to submit an application for funding on foot of a forthcoming call for projects under the tourist recreational measure of the Border, midland and western region regional operational programme of the National Development Plan 2000-2006. The amount of funding secured will depend on the evaluation and assessment of projects put forward compared to other competing projects and the level of funding that will be available in the future will be contingent on constraints in public expenditure generally.

Mary Upton

Ceist:

822 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the individual non-governmental organisations funded or grant-aided under the various schemes run by his Department; the amount provided; and the purpose for which it was provided, in the last full year for which information is available.
