Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

1007 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Kildare will be offered hip replacement surgery in view of the fact that this person is in considerable pain and is in urgent need of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15859/02]

Responsibility for the provision of health services to persons living in County Kildare rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

1008 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon has not been called for an MRI scan and lumbar puncture at Temple Street Hospital, Dublin even though they were put on the waiting list in July 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15860/02]

The provision of medical services in the case of the person named from County Roscommon is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and reply to the Deputy directly.
