Ceist:

1043 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the amount of the allocation in the case of each health board for 2002; the amount, in the case of each health board, of all subsequent allocations for the first six months of 2002, including allocations for payroll adjustments, service developments and the cost pressures arising in demand led schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The latest notified adjustment to the health boards allocations was made on 31 July 2002 and resulted in a total increase of €159.439 million to the health boards allocations. The breakdown of this increase is set out in the following table:

There will also be future adjustments in relation to the cost pressures arising from demand-led schemes. These adjustments will be dealt with as part of the Supplementary Estimate process, which does not normally take place until late November or early December, following which the appropriate adjustments will be made.

1044 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the amounts paid to each health board in 2002 out of moneys voted in subhead B5 of his departmental vote; the corresponding amounts for the same period in 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16060/02]

Payments in respect of balances due for years prior to the current year are paid from subhead B5 of the health and children Vote. The amount paid from subhead B5 to each health board in 2002 to date, and for the same period in 2001, is set out in the following table:

The variation from year to year in cash balances reflects the extent to which some boards or authorities need to draw down funding to a greater or lesser extent against their cash profile. However, the overall level of cash funding approved by Government is not exceeded.
