Ceist:

1173 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason there is such a delay in providing a wheelchair and other aids for the home of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if there is a waiting list for the provision of wheelchairs in the South-Eastern Health Board area; and if an immediate response will be provided to the requests being made by the person. Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children (Mr. T. O'Malley):

The provision of technical aids and appliances, including wheelchairs, to people with physical or sensory disabilities is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer, South-Eastern Health Board, with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
