Written Answers. - General Medical Services Scheme.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

1219 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the assistance which can be given by his Department by way of support or information to those who suffer with a medical condition (details supplied); if a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny would qualify under the treatment purchase scheme to attend a doctor in Long Island who is a specialist in the area; if this person's case will be examined through consultants at St. James' Hospital, Dublin, to determine the future action required; if the blood tests results carried out at St. James' on 5 July 2002 will be made available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17448/02]

The provision of services in the case of the person named from County Kilkenny is the responsibility of the South-Eastern Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply directly to the Deputy.
