1248 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Transport the current status of the mini-CTC signalling system; the cost of completing the project; the estimated time scale for completion; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16637/02]
I am informed by Iarnród Éireann that the mini-CTC system on the Galway line is due to be completed in June 2003 with the Waterford, Tralee and Sligo lines due for completion in August 2004, March 2005 and December 2005 respectively. All materials for the project have been procured and the design and installation are on target. The budget approved in December 2001 for the project is €44.44 million and the company forecasts that the project will be commissioned on schedule and within budget.
